Recently, we received an email which was reaching out to see if we as a company, would be able to offer a small raffle prize to help raise funds for a 6 year old little girl who is fighting a rare but aggressive childhood cancer (Neuroblastoma). Avaya started to feel unwell in October 2019 and in January 2020 her parents were told the devastating news that their beautiful daughter had cancer. Her primary tumour is in her abdomen but it has also spread elsewhere in her body, mainly her bones and bone marrow.
Since then she has undergone eight rounds of chemotherapy, which initially reduced the main tumour by 50%, however the consultants deemed it too dangerous to operate as the tumour was wrapped around major blood vessels. Avaya then had 3 rounds of a different chemotherapy her cancer was ‘stable’ but had still not shown improvement.
In August Avaya was enrolled onto a clinical trial and this has slightly improved her disease but its still not been enough for the tumour to be removed. Her parents are waiting for suggestions as to what will be the next steps offered to Avaya, but they are also now preparing to look at alternative treatments both in the UK and abroad and the family simply do not have the funds available to try and source this themselves.
The GoFundMe has been set up to open up these possibilities for Avaya as the NHS only have so many options for her. After reading Avaya’s story, there was no doubt of us donating to the raffle, but we also needed to find other ways of raising some more money to help the family meet their target! So this is how the Avaya Collection came about. After many emails to and fro with Avaya’s Auntie, we wanted to choose a scent which is personal and fitting to Avaya. Vikki told us Avaya loves to smell flowers when they are in bloom.
So the scent dedicated to Avaya and her fight is Avaya’s Blooms and is a sophisticated and soothing blend of florals and subtle fruits, with top notes of Citrus, mid notes of mimosa, ylang, jasmine, rose and base notes of sweet musk, sandalwood and tonka bean. Avaya also loves anything pink and sparkly so of course we had to oblige with the colour and glitter!!
